This time I prefer your shot. The toning adds to the atmosphere, I'd say. Maybe it would have been better if you got the bright part of the cloud behind the tree instead of next to it like it is now. Maybe it wouldn't work, but it just might have been worth a shot Cropping a bit either from the top or from the bottom might improve the composition (from where, that would be for you to decide, of course).

I do prefer the position of the tree on the side (which I also stated in your friends similar (VERY SIMILAR) post) I would crop another 1 cm from the top but that is just my personal taste. Love the tone and the fantastic view and perspective! Great comp!
