the sky looks great! the bottom could been croped a litle
(the bright straws at bottom doesnt do anything for the picture),
i know you dont supposed to have the horizon in the middle,
but i never listen to stuff like that... i think equal amount of sky and ground would be nice in this shot.
=)

Very nice lighting and composition!....the bright straws work well for me.
I would crop a little from the top.

The rule of thirds would say that horizon should not be placed in the middle, but thats only applicable if one half is more dominant in my opinion. This photo has equally dominant halves, so horizon in the middle works. The composition of this is really fantastic. You did an awesome job framing this scene up. I love how you got the grass in the foreground and a bit of the road which leads my eye right up the photo. Great lighting. My only complaint is the cloud in the sky looks like its a little over sharpened and is a bit distracting, but this may just be because of the strong light behind it. Overall awesome photo!

Really great Pic! The bright straws are ok to me (I was thinkin it was a HDR pic lol ) Amazing sky! Well capture! Good work! +10

I'd back Carlos up ie cropping a bit from the top of the sky.
Rules of third is for me a stronger presentation format in this one.
You keep a wonderful depth and leading lines from the road. This would be lost by having a half-half presentation.

That is my 0.02 cents :p

I would suggest blending two exposures here, but not with photomatix or that kind of crap, just a bunch of layers so it would still look fairly natural.
I like the composition and the greenish cast, nice clouds.

Totally disagree ! Infact it provide a starting point for it being the brightest point & good use of flash (if i am right ?) !!

The wise old man isn't ever wrong :) !!
Agree with Carlos, A crop just a bit from top so that the daigonal cloud line end at the right side of the frame instead of the corner will really help. That automatically get ur compo in RULE OF THIRDS !! Should add more depth IMHO !!

Poohblah wrotewould be better if you had used HDR IMO.
Might be worth a try !! But its already is perfectly exposed for me & has this stark quality to it !! So even the extra sharpness is helping in this case !!
HDR if used well might help add more depth, but will surely mess up the clouds !!

Totally agree with him !!! Just brilliant work to keep the midground in mild light as well !!

agree totally !!!

Overall a brilliant image for me !!! the use of curves, colors & the whole stark quality to it are all awesome !!!

i disagree with  plutorange too. the grass is a starting point and the foreground. without it the photo would be empty. but it's not a flash i used, it's just the odd light i had there. plus i was filling light in lightroom 1.0 (raw converting software), which made it brighter. btw, lightroom is a great software and enables to achieve almost hdr effect to a single photo.

well, this might be kind of a good idea, but i wouldn't crop it totally to make the sky light diagonal. why? because it'd make the crop too tight imo. like 1cm off could actually help a bit tho, i agree.

there was no use of hdr in this case. first off, it would mess up the clouds, making them less contrasted. besides, like i mentioned, what i did with this image during conversion is already close to hdr. anyway, the whole charm of it lays in contrast and dark areas. making them lighter would destroy all the ambience of the shot.

and finally

i agree, there are 2 dominant halves. making it totally according the rule of thirds would make it poorer. and yes, it's so sharp because of the strong light.

thanks guys again. this must be the biggest comment ever now. i should get an award for it.

I like the composition , think its wonderful....but the underexposure is what's disturbs me here...If you could do some other combination with shutter speed and F.no ...
